After completing a previous fit-out of the rooms and the Grahamston Bar at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow, TJL was checked back in to carry out an extensive refurbishment in 2023. This project involved updating and refreshing all 247 rooms with new carpet, paint, wallpaper and updated bathrooms.
The original bathrooms featured a combined bathtub and shower, which were replaced with modern, spacious walk-in showers. This upgrade required significant alterations to the existing drainage system, initially designed for bathtubs. The refurbishment demanded meticulous planning and precise execution, conducted in stages to minimise disruption. Our site team worked on two floors concurrently to reconfigure the bathroom drainage system while carrying out the bedroom upgrades. This approach allowed the hotel to keep several floors open for guest bookings. We worked closely with our client to adjust work schedules around their busy periods to ensure minimal impact on the hotel’s operations.
The refurbishment included the installation of high-quality case goods provided by TJL’s Manufacturing division. These included headboards, table bases, TV shelves, wardrobes, and side tables, ensuring consistency and uniformity throughout each room. Several bespoke items were also created for the hotel’s suites.
The successful completion of the guestroom refurbishment in 2023 led to our client awarding us the next phase in the hotel’s £15m planned investment, which focused on the meeting and events spaces, including the grand ballroom and first-floor private meeting rooms.
This project exemplifies TJL’s expertise in problem-solving, flexibility, and meticulous planning, all executed without compromising the guest experience.
