What is the true cost of construction waste?

Thomas Johnstone Ltd is helping Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) and Zero Waste Scotland to answer this important question. Researchers from GCU are collecting information to calculate the cost of wasted materials in an average 8-yard mixed waste skip.

We have assisted with this study twice now: at The Ink Building in 2019 and more recently at BT’s Alexander Bain House.

Our team fill a standard 88-yard skip and answer the researcher’s questions about where it’s from and why it’s being designated as rubbish. The researcher can then take measurements to create a full picture of how waste can be reduced on site.
